September ECLB and CILB Meetings
Congrats to our licensees at the ECLB and the CILB Boards this month! Approvals on all 3 applications! 2 folks had some past issues which caused their applications to be reviewed, and one was for an Initial Unlimited Electrical license. Of course, we spent time with each on the phone, prepping them for their appearances.
For our Electrical applicant, I asked him to go to the meeting even though he didn’t need to go. Initially, he questioned why, and I replied, “Because at some point, someone is going to ask you to pull a permit or qualify them; you need to see what happens when things go wrong.” So today, he called to thank us for helping him activate his license. He also thanked me for making him go to the meeting anyway. He witnessed several folks go through a disciplinary hearing. He saw what can happen if things go wrong, as well as how serious the Florida ECLB is about keeping contractors on the level.
I asked him, “What are you going to do if someone offers you cash for a permit?” He replied, “I’m going to say ‘NO’!”
